Interview 1

As the Interviewer

In this video, I interviewed Steven Jin. He was very interesting to interview, and coming up with interview questions was easier than I had thought it would be at first. I learned that he is very interested in making movies, but more the character creation side instead of the DP side.

Being Interviewed

Being interviewed on camera for the first time was very awkward, but Evangeline did an excellent job with taking out the weird bits. It looks much better than the raw footage did. I am hoping to get to the point that I am not dripping in sweat every time I get interviewed, for other people's sake.

As the Film D.P.

In this video, I am the film DP while Steven interviews Evangeline. It was really interesting to see them interviewing in a "behind the scenes" sort of way. Evangeline was obviously nervous, but it was interesting to see that it isn't quite as obvious as you think it is when you are the interviewee.

Interview 2

As the Interviewer

I thoroughly enjoyed interviewing Jordan. She was funny and the conversation ran smoothly. I had a better idea of what to ask her and didn't have as many stalls mid-sentence. I messed up the editing by adding way too much bad B-roll. I need to cut it down in the future. Also, the audio was much better.

Being Interviewed

I was much more confident going into this interview, and Miles asked good questions. I had a couple stalls, but he did an excellent job of getting it out. The interview was much less tense and I learned a lot from the previous experience. There was still a lot of pressure to answer quickly, but it turned out well.

As the Film D.P.

I learned a lot from being the Film D.P. this time, because there was nobody from the more advanced cinema classes to walk me through it. That meant that I got to set up the shots alone, and it went pretty well. I wish we had had lav mics though, the background noise was horrible (but not as bad as before).
